SCA Utilizes the WRAT To Assess Student Levels
Sahuarita Christian Academy utilizes the Wide Range Achievement Test to assess each of its students in relation to their basic academic skills of reading, spelling and mathematical computation.
Several new
features have been added to the WRAT4, including an entirely
new measure of reading achievement - Sentence Comprehension - to enhance the
scope of the content assessed and to meet the need for a measure of reading
comprehension.
Previous versions of the WRAT have enjoyed widespread use in a variety of
settings, measuring the basic academic skills of reading, spelling, and
mathematical computation that are necessary for effective learning,
communication, and thinking. The latest edition, the WRAT4,
continues to measure these basic content areas and preserves those features that
made the WRAT3 and earlier editions so popular with users - ease of
administration and scoring, as well as providing a significant amount of
information gained through a relatively brief investment of testing time.
The WRAT4 is intended for use by professionals who need a
quick, simple, and psychometrically sound measure of fundamental academic
skills. It also can be used to quickly assess large groups of individuals to
identify those who need additional evaluation, to evaluate achievement/ability
discrepancies, to identify specific learning disabilities, to re-evaluate
individuals previously diagnosed with learning and/or cognitive disorders, and
to assess an individual's academic progress over time.
What's New in
the WRAT4?
The WRAT4-SP scores and generates reports after hand-entry of raw subtest scores
from the WRAT4 Blue, Green and Combined forms. The WRAT4 Score Report includes
a WRAT4 Score Summary Table, the WRAT4 Standard Score Profile for basic
interpretation and the WRAT4 Standard Score Comparison Table that can be used
for an extended interpretation. Program functionality includes navigational
tools (eg menu system, Quickstart dialog box, Toolbar, Status Bar), file
handling and report editing.
Features of the WRAT4 Score Report
Administration Time:
Approximately
15-25 minutes for individuals ages 5 to 7 years; Approximately 35-45 minutes for individuals ages 8 years and older
Administration: Individually to ages 5 to 94 years.
Scores/Interpretation: Standard scores, percentile ranks, stanines, NCE's, grade equivalents, and Rasch ability scale scores are provided for the tow forms and for both forms combined.
